1/22 Independent Work Day

Follow this checklist IN ORDER. Remember, in order to make the flashlight, you must complete all of the foundational skill building first.

1.  Finish "How Electricity Works" presentation

• Make sure it includes a Works Cited page

2.  Watch this video about Series and Parallel circuits.  Take notes in your STEAM notebook

3.  Complete the Circuit Builder game. (all 3 Levels).

• Make sure you read the directions for each problem so you know what type of circuit to build

4.  Watch Mr. Robinett's lecture on Circuit Vocabulary and Circuit Math.  Take notes in your STEAM notebook.  Pause the video when necessary to ensure you take good notes.

5.  Log on to your Circuits ePortfolio that you made last class.  (Remember, the ugly purple one?)

6.  Click on the Circuit Math tab and complete the 3 quiz questions (at the bottom of the page)

• Answer the questions using Ohm's Law
• Add your answers to the website (you will be graded for correctness)
• Show the steps you took to make your calculations (just like the examples I showed you in the video)

7.  Download the PHET circuit simulator.  Instructions on how to download can be found at the top of the Circuit Math page on your ePortfolio.

• Play with the simulator for 10-15 minutes
• Use the simulator to "prove" that your answers to the circuit math quiz are correct

8.  Extra Credit!  Create a Scratch game or animation.
